ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 26. The Kazakhstan Automotive Union has confirmed that 19,377 vehicles were sold in Kazakhstan in May 2025, spanning all vehicle types, Trend reports.
Based on the analytics, the figures indicate that 18,576 units
comprised passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, alongside
801 trucks and buses, reflecting a substantial increase of 51.4
percent compared to the metrics from May of the previous year
(12,796 units).
During the initial quintet of months in 2025, a cumulative total of
85,467 automotive units were transacted, reflecting a substantial
year-over-year uptick of 28.7 percent compared to the corresponding
timeframe in the previous annum, which recorded 66,401 units.
"May 2025 confirmed the stability of the positive trend: dealers, together with banks, continue to combine efforts, making the purchase of new cars more accessible to a wider audience. And such initiatives resonate with customers. Add to this the large-scale marketing campaigns of market participants, which also further stimulate demand. The combination of these factors explains the significant increase in sales in the first five months of this year by almost a third. Overall, this is an optimistic indicator for the national market. The average purchase price of a new car from January through May of this year was 15.9 million tenge (approximately $30,210). The same figure last year was slightly, but still, higher—16.1 million (approximately $30,590)," said Anar Makasheva, president of the Kazakhstan Automotive Union.
The top spot in the Top 10 best-selling cars in May is traditionally held by Hyundai (4,004 units; +66.3 percent compared to May of last year). Chevrolet continues to hold the second position—2,344cars sold (+74.3 percent). Kia is in third place—2,004 units (+5.3 percent). Changan has moved into fourth place for the first time this year—1,526units (+124.7 percent), pushing Chery down to fifth place (1,367 units; +47.1 percent). Further down the list: Jetour (1,278 units; +92.5 percent), Haval (1,141 units; +92.7 percent), Geely (1,009 units; +124.2 percent), Toyota (812 units; +42.2 percent), and Jac (794 units; -22.8 percent).
In the top 10 most popular models in May, there were no changes: in first place is the Chevrolet Cobalt (1,869 units). Hyundai Tucson holds the second position (1,554 units), and Kia Sportage is in third place (995 units). For the first time, Changan CS55 Plus is in fourth place with 864 crossovers, and Hyundai Mufasa takes the fifth position (581 units). Further down the list: Chery Tiggo 2 (566 units), Haval M6 (553 units), Hyundai Santa Fe (506 units), Jetour X50 (455 units), and Hyundai Elantra (445 units).
