ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 2. LLP "Atyrau Freight Car Building Plant" (AFCBP) will reach a production capacity of 6,000–7,000 wagons per year by 2026, Trend reports via the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
As noted by the Ministry of Industry, construction of AFCBP began in 2022. In July 2024, the first prototype samples were produced—bogies model 18-6786, open wagons 12-6785, and container platforms 13-6792, which are sent for certification testing.
"By the end of 2024, small-scale production of hatch open wagons and fitting platforms will be launched; technology development and staff training are underway. In 2025, a contract was signed for the supply of equipment for a tank car production line, with serial production planned by the end of the year," the statement said.
AFCBP produces open wagons and container platforms, including models with increased load capacity, such as articulated model 13-6741. The plant plans to master the production of tank cars, grain and mineral fertilizer bunker wagons, container flatcars, and interchangeable bodies, as well as European gauge rolling stock in the future.
The design documentation is meticulously generated by the Kazakhstan Engineering Center for Transport Technologies, strategically located at the Atyrau Freight Car Building Plant. The localization profundity of component fabrication is projected to attain 96 percent, which will markedly enhance the caliber and competitive edge of the offerings.
