ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 12. Oil production in Kazakhstan has decreased by 27,000 tons or 12 percent over the past 24 hours due to scheduled maintenance at the Karachaganak field, Trend reports.
The country's Ministry of Energy said the repair work will last until September 15.
Production at the Karachaganak field as of September 11 amounted to 3,300 tons, having decreased by 27,000. And production as a whole over the past day decreased from 243,500 to 213,800 tons.
Kazakhstan's oil production in August 2023 reached 1.45 mb/d.
As indicated in a Platts survey conducted by S&P Global Commodity Insights, this marks a decrease compared to July 2023 when the country's output stood at 1.5 mb/d.
Moreover, Kazakhstan has been lagging behind its production quota of 1.55 mb/d, which was established as part of the OPEC+ agreement, for several months already. Consequently, in August, Kazakhstan fell short of the quota by 100,000 b/d.
As the latest OPEC+ decision came in force June 4, Kazakhstan is expected to adjust its oil production level to 1.628 mb/d throughout 2024.
From January through August 2022, Kazakhstan exported more than 46.2 million tons of oil and petroleum products, which is 4 percent more than in the same period in 2021. In monetary terms, the volume exceeded $32 billion, an increase of 70.3 percent.
