BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 24. Kyrgyzstan imported a total of 19,972 tons of tomatoes valued at $11.231 million from January through November 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that there was a 4.8-percent decrease in import volume compared to the corresponding period in 2022 (20,970 tons). At the same time, the value increased by 3.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($10.816 million).
The majority of tomatoes were imported from Turkmenistan, accounting for 12,807 tons valued at $7.847 million, followed by Uzbekistan with 6,321 tons amounting to $2.950 million. During the period under review, Kyrgyzstan also imported tomatoes from Kazakhstan, China, Iran and Türkiye.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $13.9 billion from January through November 2023, which is a 29 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 ($10.7 billion).
Kyrgyzstan's exports totaled $2.8 billion, which is a 36.7 percent growth compared to the corresponding period in 2022 ($2.05 billion). The country's imports amounted to $11.1 billion, increasing by 27.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($8.7 billion).
