BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 27. Kyrgyzstan imported 20,883 tons of tomatoes from January through November 2024, which is a 6.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023 (19,662 tons), Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the value of imports totaled $13.504 million, which is a 20.2 percent higher than $11.231 million in January-November 2023.
The majority of tomatoes were imported from Turkmenistan (16,133 tons worth $9.313 million), followed by Uzbekistan (3,873 tons worth $3.090 million), and China (769 tons worth $1 million). Additionally, 73 tons worth $95,746 were imported from Iran, and 34 tons worth $5,162 came from Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $14.6 billion in the January-November 2024 period, which is a 3.7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. Exports rose by 21.3 percent to $3.465 billion, while imports decreased by 0.8 percent to $11.189 billion.
