BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. A decrease ranging from 3 to 7 percent has been recorded in the average prices of vegetables, including potatoes, carrots, onions, and cabbages, across the majority of city and district markets in Tajikistan as of June 12, compared to June 5, Trend reports.
Data from the World Food Programme (WFP) shows that the average price for potatoes in the retail markets of Tajikistan as of June 12 was 5.9 somoni ($0.54) per kilogram, reflecting a 3-percent decrease from the previous week.
During the same period, the average price of carrots experienced a 7 percent decrease, resulting in a price of 4.8 somoni ($0.44) per kilogram.
Meanwhile, the average price for onions as of June 12 decreased by 4 percent compared to the previous week, totaling 4 somoni ($0.37). Additionally, the average price for cabbage in the retail markets of the country dropped by 3 percent compared to June 5, amounting to 4.6 somoni ($0.42) per kilogram.
WFP Tajikistan, in collaboration with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been engaged in the surveillance of commodity prices in markets throughout the country.
