Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan see drop in bilateral trade turnover volume

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 4. Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover volume with Kazakhstan decreased to $2.6 billion from January through August 2024, Trend reports.

As per data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, this figure has lowered by 7.6 percent year-on-year ($2.8 billion from January through August 2023).

Kazakhstan has climbed the ranks to snag the third spot among the nations with the biggest slice of the foreign trade pie in Uzbekistan during the first eight months of this year.

Meanwhile, the volume of exports to Kazakhstan from Uzbekistan amounted to $872.5 million, showing a 8.9 percent decline compared to the same period last year ($950.6 million).

Uzbekistan’s imports from Kazakhstan reached $1.7 billion from January through August 2024, decreasing by 11.7 percent year-on-year ($1.9 billion from January through August 2023).

To note, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume amounted to $42.7 billion from January through August 2024, increasing by 6.7 percent year-on-year ($40 billion during the first eight months of 2023).

The nation's exports reached $17.3 billion from January through August 2024, while imports amounted to $25.3 billion.
