BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Iran's South Pars Gas Company produced more than 196 bcm of low-sulfur gas in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), executive director of Iran's South Pars Gas Company Ahmad Bahush said, Trend reports.
He stated that the said amount of gas has been produced from 13 plants of the company.
Bahush added that the company provided 75 percent of the country's gas consumption last year.
The official noted that the mentioned amount of gas was produced by processing 225 bcm of gas from the South Pars gas field (North Douma in Qatar), which is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar.
Meanwhile, the rich gas produced from the South Pars gas field is processed at the South Pars facility. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 13 processing plants.
Additionally, it should be noted that Iran has 24 phases of the South Pars gas field. Iran started production in this field in 2002. It is reported that Iran is currently producing a total of 700 million cubic meters of gas per day from these phases. It is estimated that Iran has spent an estimated $90 billion on this field. It is noted that about 33 percent of the gas that can be produced from the gas field belongs to Iran. On the Iranian side, the fields have been developed by Iran, while on the Qatari side, the fields have been developed mostly by foreign companies.
To note, the South Pars gas field (North Douma in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. It is reported that this field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters can be produced. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
