BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. The export of non-oil products through the customs of Golestan Province, located in northeastern Iran, increased by 44 percent in value and 24 percent in weight during the seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriyar Shahriyari told local media, Trend reports.
According to him, 387,000 tons of non-oil products worth $245 million have been exported through the customs of Iran's Golestan province for seven months.
Shahriyari added that iodine worth $18 million, cheese worth $15.8 million, and pistachios worth $15 million were mainly exported during the mentioned period.
The official noted that the products are exported to 26 countries, including Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
He stated that products worth $83.6 million were exported to Turkmenistan through provincial customs. In value terms, 35 percent of the products exported through the provincial customs were exported to Turkmenistan.
Note that Iran's Golestan province is on the border with Turkmenistan. The railroad line linking the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad passes through this region.
