BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. Recently, drilling of the first horizontal oil well 4,400 meters deep has been completed at Iran's Reshadat oil field, Head of the drilling department of Iranian Offshore Oil Company, Saeed Mohammadi, told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, RSS (rotary steerable systems)/LWD (logging-while-drilling) technology was used in drilling the mentioned well, and an important step was taken towards increasing production from the field.

Mohammadi noted that following the imposition of sanctions by Western countries against Iran and the withdrawal of Western contractors from the country, the operation of the Reshadat oil field was postponed beyond 2010. The excavation of the field began in 2021 with RSS/LWD technology.

The official noted that under the project related to the development of the Reshadat oil field, two platforms have been installed in this field, and work has begun on drilling 20 wells.

“Within the framework of the project of development of the Reshadat oil field, 10 production and 10 pressure wells will be drilled. With the commissioning of these wells, the production of the field will increase by 35,000 barrels per day, and thus the production will increase to 50,000 barrels per day,” he noted.

Iran's Reshadat oil field is located in southern Iran, 108 kilometers from Lavan Island, near the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.
