BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 25. Iran’s South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company (SZOGPC) aims to increase oil production from its fields for the upcoming Iranian year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026), Seyed Mahmoud Mirbagheri, Director of Operations at SZOGPC, told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, the company aims to increase oil production from its fields, with a daily target of 16,000 barrels.
The company oversees several oil fields, and Mirbagheri further explained that in the eight months of the upcoming year, gas production will reach 121 million cubic meters per day. In the following four months, this number is expected to increase to 165 million cubic meters per day.
As part of this strategy, the company plans to accelerate drilling at five oil and gas fields, which will involve drilling seven new wells. Additionally, work will include the construction of a 12-inch pipeline at the Dey oil field and ensuring the supply of equipment for the oil and gas wells.
"The company plans extensive development in the coming five years. The projects include developments at Shanol, Kangan, Dalan, Tabnak, Sarkhoon, and Aghar fields, as well as the upgrading of the Nar Gas Pressure Boosting Station. The company will also drill 10 new wells and repair 6 existing ones,” Mirbagheri added.
The South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company (SZOGPC) is one of three subsidiaries of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC). The SZOGPC currently has 9 gas fields - Aghar, Dalan, Nar, Kangan, Sarkhoon, Tabnak, Homa, Varavi, Shanol - and 3 oil fields - Saadatabad, Sarvestan, and Khesht under its management.
As many as 84 oil and gas fields are under the management of Central Oil Zones in 11 provinces of Iran. To date, 13 gas fields and 13 oil fields have been developed. The maximum production potential of Central Oil Zones Company is about 250,000 barrels of crude oil and 250 million cubic meters of gas daily.
