BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2. Iran's non-oil product imports reached a total value of approximately $63.6 billion, amounting to around 35 million tons, in the first eleven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025), Foroud Asgari, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), told reporters, Trend reports.
According to Asgari, the value of non-oil product imports has increased by 5.6 percent compared to the same period last year, although the weight has decreased by 2.6 percent.
Asgari further revealed that Iran's main import partners during this period included the UAE, with imports worth $19.1 billion, followed by China at $16.6 billion, Türkiye at $11.1 billion, Germany at $2.1 billion, India at $1.4 billion, Russia at $1.2 billion, and Hong Kong at $1.2 billion.
The official also pointed out that Iran's top non-oil imports included gold, with a value of $7.3 billion, followed by animal feed corn at $2.7 billion and mobile phones at $2.1 billion.
In total, Iran's non-oil trade turnover for the eleven months stood at $117 billion, comprising 176 million tons of goods. This represents a year-on-year increase of 11.2 percent in value and 9.2 percent in weight.
To note, Iran prioritizes the import of essential goods while imposing certain restrictions on the import of products that are similar to those produced domestically.
