Iran sees boom in non-oil imports via Kurdistan Province customs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 4. Iran's imports of non-oil products via the Kurdistan Province customs, located in the west of the country, grew by 85 percent in value and 235 percent in weight during 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through February 18, 2025) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21, 2023 through February 18, 2024), the controller of customs in Kurdistan Province Faramarz Omidi told reporters, Trend reports.

Omidi noted that during 11 months, 28,400 tons of products worth $204 million were imported via the Kurdistan province customs.

He stressed that the imported products were primarily composed of gold, aluminum bars, aluminum waste, manufacturing equipment, and spare parts.

The official added that the products were mainly imported from Iraq, the UAE, Türkiye, China, Austria, Italy, Spain, Oman, Germany, Netherlands, Kazakhstan and Syria.

Iran's Customs Administration data shows that Iran imported 35 million tons of products worth $63.6 billion during 11 months. Iran's imports of products rose by 5.6 percent in value and decreased by 2.6 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
