BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. Iran's import of non-oil products from Turkmenistan in the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025) has decreased by 49.1 percent in value and 47.7 percent in weight compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from Iran’s Customs Administration statistics shows that the country imported around $18.5 million worth of non-oil products from Turkmenistan, totaling 15,800 tons.
In the interim, the volume of Iran's procurement from
Turkmenistan reached a fiscal valuation of $36.3 million,
encompassing a total mass of 29,900 tons throughout the designated
reporting timeframe in 2024.
The data analytics reveal that the commodities sourced from
Turkmenistan encompassed petroleum coke, cotton, textiles, and
additional items.
Moreover, the commercial exchange volume between Iran and
Turkmenistan in non-hydrocarbon commodities reached $540 million,
encompassing a cumulative weight of 1.44 million metric tons. This
denotes a surge of 21.7 percent in valuation and a 12.9 percent
escalation in mass relative to the preceding fiscal period.
The administration data also shows that Iran imported 35 million tons of products worth $63.6 billion during 11 months, meaning an increase of 5.6 percent in value but a decrease of 2.6 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Iran mainly focuses on importing products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products manufactured in the country.
