BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. Iran’s total iron and steel exports during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025) reached a value of $5.35 billion, amounting to 23.9 million tons.
Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) shows that these figures reflect a decrease compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024), with a 14 percent decline in value and a 2.4 percent drop in weight.
In the previous year, Iran exported 24.5 million tons of iron and steel, valued at $6.24 billion. Specifically, during the past 11 months, Iran's export of crude steel was valued at $2.57 billion, totaling 5.62 million tons. This represents a 25 percent decrease in value and a 21 percent reduction in weight compared to the same period last year ($3.42 billion for 7.1 million tons of crude steel).
On the other hand, Iran’s exports of steel products amounted to $1.78 billion, with 3.6 million tons shipped abroad. This marks a 9 percent increase in value and a 14 percent rise in weight compared to the previous year, when steel product exports were valued at $1.64 billion, with 3.15 million tons exported.
Meanwhile, Iran's steel production potential is about 40 million tons per year.
Iran's Customs Administration data shows that the country's total exports of non-oil products amounted to 141 million tons worth $53.4 billion during 11 months. Compared to the same period last year, non-oil exports increased by 19 percent in value and 12.6 percent in weight.
