BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Non-oil exports
through customs in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province in the past
Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025)
increased by 56 percent in value and 26 percent in weight compared
to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024),
the controller of Iran's West Azerbaijan Province customs office
Khaled Jangjoo told reporters, Trend reports.
Jangjoo stated that during the past Iranian year, non-oil
products worth over $2 billion, totaling 3.3 million tons, were
exported through the customs of West Azerbaijan.
He added that the main exports included rubber products, copper
wire, iron and steel ingots, copper ingots, and others. These
products were primarily exported to Iraq, Türkiye, the UAE,
Afghanistan, and Russia.
The customs official also noted that in the past Iranian year,
products worth $1.26 billion, totaling 477,000 tons, were imported
through the West Azerbaijan customs. The value of imports increased
by 19 percent compared to the previous year, although the weight
decreased by 3 percent.
"Main imports included trucks, bananas, raw cotton, car tires,
and textile machinery," he said.
To note, Iran primarily focuses on importing necessary goods
that the country needs and imposes certain restrictions on
importing products manufactured within the country.
