BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. Iran’s imports from Turkmenistan in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025) rose by 22.9 percent in value and 98 percent in weight compared to the same month of the previous year (from March 20 through April 19, 2024)
Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration's statistics indicates that Iran imported goods worth $496,000, totaling nearly 680 tons, up from around $404,000 and 343 tons in the corresponding period last year. The products imported included petroleum coke, cotton, fabrics, and other items.
The trade turnover between Iran and Turkmenistan during this period reached a value of $27.4 million, with a total weight of 105,000 tons, showing a 3 percent increase in value and a 2.5 percent rise in weight compared to the previous year.
The Iranian Customs Administration also reported that, in the same period, Iran’s non-oil imports totaled $2.85 billion, with 1.8 million tons of goods coming into the country. While the value of non-oil imports increased by 2.3 percent, the weight decreased by 26.4 percent compared to the same month last year.
Iran’s import policy primarily focuses on essential goods needed by the country, imposing certain restrictions on the import of products already produced domestically.
