BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. Iran’s non-oil imports for the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2025) reached a total value of $8.47 billion, amounting to 5.92 million tons in volume, said Foroud Asgari, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and Director General of the Customs Administration, Trend reports.
In an interview with local media, Asgari noted that compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), the value of non-oil imports decreased by 7.8 percent, while the volume increased by 1.16 percent.
The official added that during this period, Iran imported $860 million worth of raw gold, $657 million in corn feed, $289 million in rice, $215 million in sunflower oil, and $211 million in soybean seeds.
He also noted that the country’s top import partners during this time included the United Arab Emirates with $2.59 billion in exports to Iran, China with $2.2 billion, Türkiye with $1.36 billion, Germany with $308 million, India with $291 million, the Netherlands with $215 million, and Switzerland with $190 million.
Iran prioritizes the import of essential goods that are necessary for domestic consumption, while imposing certain restrictions on products that are already produced domestically.
