BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4. Iran’s imports from Georgia in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2025) fell sharply compared to the previous year, decreasing by 61.9 percent in value and 74.4 percent in volume.
Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Customs Administration indicates that imports from Georgia amounted to $3.1 million and 890 tons during this period, down from about $8.1 million and 3,490 tons in the same period of 2024.
The main imported goods from Georgia included agricultural products, wood, various equipment, and spare parts. Overall trade turnover between the two countries totaled $16.9 million and 36,700 tons, representing declines of 22.3 percent in value and 11.8 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
The customs data shows that Iran’s total non-oil imports in the first month reached about $2.85 billion and 1.8 million tons, with value rising slightly by 2.3 percent but volume falling by more than 26.4 percent.
Iran prioritizes importing essential goods needed domestically and imposes certain restrictions on products already manufactured within the country.
