BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. Exports through the customs of Iran’s northeastern Razavi Khorasan Province increased by 11 percent in value and 10 percent in weight in the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2025), compared to the same period last year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), said Reza Jamshidi, Deputy Governor of the province's Economic Affairs, Trend reports.
Speaking at a meeting of the province's Export Development Task
Force held in Mashhad, Jamshidi pointed out that a whopping $337
million worth of goods, weighing in at 60,000 tons, made their way
out through the province’s customs during this stretch of time.
The bread and butter of exports included polyethylene, metal
products, saffron, and pistachios. These were mainly dispatched to
Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iraq,
covering all the bases.
He also pointed out that imports passing through Razavi Khorasan’s
customs hit the jackpot at $103 million, weighing in at a hefty
44,000 tons. When you look at the numbers from last year, it’s
clear that imports have taken a leap, jumping up by 30 percent in
value, while the weight has barely budged, inching up by just 0.2
percent.
The official added that the main imported goods included cotton, mobile phones, beans, and rice. These products were mainly imported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tajikistan, Türkiye, China, and Uzbekistan.
“During the two months, 1.13 tons of cargo transited through Razavi Khorasan province. This represents a 70 percent increase compared to the same time last year,” Jamshidi emphasized.
Moreover, the report from Iran's Customs Administration reveals that Iran's total non-oil exports during the first two months of the current year amounted to $8.24 billion in value and 24.6 million tons in weight. While the value of non-oil exports slightly decreased by 0.11 percent compared to last year, the weight of exports saw a notable increase of 4.4 percent.
Meanwhile, Iran’s overall non-oil imports during this period totaled $8.47 billion in value and 5.92 million tons in weight. Compared to the same period last year, the value of non-oil imports decreased by 7.8 percent, while the weight increased by 1.16 percent.
