BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 24. The export of non-oil products through the customs of Iran's Golestan province increased by 44 percent in value and 24 percent in weight during the eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriyar Shahriyari told reporters, Trend reports.
He said that 452,000 tons of non-oil products worth $290 million have been exported through the province's customs for the eight months.
The official pointed out that during this period the products were exported to 27 countries, including Turkmenistan (in the amount of $98 million), Kazakhstan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Shahriyari added that 382 tons of iodine worth $21.4 million, and 15,300 tons of cheese worth $18 million, mainly exported during the mentioned period.
To note, Golestan province borders with Turkmenistan. The railroad line linking the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad passes through this region.
