BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 24. The majority of exports from Iran were directed to Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan through the Golestan province's customs, located in the northeastern part of the country, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriyar Shahriyari told reporters, Trend reports.
According to the official, non-oil products worth $113 million were exported to Turkmenistan through the Golestan provincial customs, while exports to Kazakhstan totaled approximately $102 million during the reporting period.
Shahriyari further noted that in total, around 514,000 tons of non-oil products, valued at $334 million, were exported via the Golestan customs during the first nine months.
The exported goods reached 28 countries, including Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and others. Key exports included iodine, cheese, pistachios, profiles, hazelnuts, polystyrene, polyethylene, wire, fish feed, and more.
Shahriyari specified that 42,700 tons of iodine, worth $23.6 million; 17,400 tons of cheese, valued at $20.5 million; and 976 tons of pistachios, worth $8.53 million, were among the notable exports.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the Golestan province of Iran is home to more than 650 industrial enterprises spread across 23 industrial parks.
