BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 24. Cargo transportation through the Arak regional railway in central Iran has increased by 18 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024), compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), head of the Arak Railway Department Saeed Turki told reporters, Trend reports.
Turki noted that the Arak Regional Railway Administration transported 1.07 million tons of cargo to various regions of the country in nine months.
He further explained that the transported goods primarily included fuel oil, low-sulfur fuel oil, polyethylene, chemicals, and wheat during the reporting period.
Torki added that in terms of exports, 4,140 tons of goods were transported via the Arak railway during the same period, marking a 6 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Additionally, the official highlighted that the railway authority had achieved a total of 75.2 million tons of cargo transportation in the first nine months, reflecting a 47 percent increase over the previous year.
To note, Iran’s Arak Railway Department controls railway lines, vehicles, and 21 railway stations in 5 provinces—Qom, Markazi, Lorestan, Hamadan, and Kermanshah—and manages a railway network spanning 545 kilometers.
