BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 24. A total of 7.8 million tons of cargo were transported from Greece to Turkish ports from January through November 2024, Türkiye's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
Additionally, it was noted that Turkish-flagged vessels delivered 749,172 tons of cargo to the ports from Greece to Turkish ports.
"A total of 6.9 million tons of cargo were transported from Greece to Turkey by vessels registered under foreign flags during the period from January through November this year," the ministry said.
Meanwhile, Greek-flagged vessels delivered 196,382 tons of cargo to Türkiye's ports during the reporting period. Greece transported a total of 1.2 million tons of transit cargo to Türkiye's ports from January through November 2024.
Additionally, Türkiye's ports received 32.4 million tons of cargo in November 2024.
"The cargo traffic to the inland ports of Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.4 million tons during this period," the department said.
Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 30 million tons.
Furthermore, in November 2024, the ports of Türkiye transported a total of 5.9 million tons of transit cargo.
According to the report, Turkish ports received 363.8 million tons of cargo from January through November 2024.
"The cargo traffic of Turkish-flagged vessels from January through February 2024 totaled 27.4 million tons. Meanwhile, by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 336.3 million tons," the report said.
However, the ports of Türkiye transported 63.5 million tons of transit cargo from January through November 2024.
To note, the ports of Türkiye received 4,373 vessels in November of this year.
Information shows that during this period, the number of vessels accepted in the ports of Türkiye under the flags of other countries amounted to 2,966, and the number of vessels accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 1,407.
Türkiye's ports received 56,86 vessels from January through November 2024.
"During this period, the number of foreign-flagged vessels accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 36,550, and the number of Turkish-flagged vessels was 19,536," the report said.
