Armenia is ignoring the international decisions and resolutions on Nagorno Karabakh, Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov said at a meeting with an Indonesian delegation headed by Indonesian House of Representatives Deputy Chairman Anung Vibo, the Parliamentary Press Service reported.

"The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a painful problem of a dynamic Azerbaijan. The aggressor, Armenia, continues to ignore international organizations' decisions and resolutions on the issue. We stand for a just solution to the problem within international legal norms," Asadov said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the United States - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the occupied territories.

Asadov praised Indonesia's support for Azerbaijan's position in discussions on this problem in authoritative international organizations.

"The meeting also noted that so far the two countries have only signed five documents and over 20 documents are under development. Azerbaijan believes that it is important to develop relations with this country in politics, economy, culture and humanitarian relations. The sides noted extensive development potential in the economic field between rich oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan and Indonesia," the press service reported.

Asadov said inter-parliamentary relations play a special role in developing cooperation between the two states.

"Working groups on inter-parliamentary relations with 70 countries around the world operate in the Azerbaijani parliament. There is also a group for cooperation with the Indonesian legislature. Our deputies met in international institutions to exchange experiences and information," he added.

Noting the importance of the meetings, Vibo said his country had a serious interest in cooperation with Azerbaijan in various spheres. He said Indonesia, which once suffered from separatism, is well aware of Azerbaijan's problem with Nagorno Karabakh, and supports the country's position and territorial integrity unambiguously.

The sides also exchanged their views on inter-parliamentary relations, and potential cooperation in the economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as solutions to regional conflicts and other issues of mutual interest.
