Agreement on Kazakhstan's joining to BTC to be inked at CICMA summit

An agreement on Kazakhstans joining to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export oil pipeline will be signed in June by the heads of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in the course of a summit of Council of Interaction and Confidence Measures in Asia (CICMA), Trend special correspondent in Kazakhstan, citing an announcement by the Kazakh Prime Ministers Press Office on the results of a meeting which discussed Kazakhstans joining to the BTC.

The issue on Kazakhstans joining to BTC was considered in a government meeting under presided by the Kazakhs PM Danial Ahmadov, the document underlined.

The gathering also considered a draft agreement between the governments of the two countries on assistance and support to oil transportation, which was mulled within the framework of Ahmadovs visit to Baku in May 2006.

Oil delivery via the Caspian by local companies is of conceptual importance for defense of state interests, Ahmadov noted.

At present a text of an agreement is under forensic examination, while the final resolution on sea shipment and taxation is still to be taken. Besides, it is necessary to include maximal clarity to principles of the document.

The prime minister stated the importance of personal responsibility of the heads of Ministries, participating in the development of the agreement.
