Iran raises bar on total exports via its Anzali port to Caspian countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. The total export via Anzali port in Iran's Gilan province to Caspian countries has increased by 47 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2024), compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through October 22, 2023), Deputy Director General of the Gilan Province Port and Maritime Administration Mujtaba Nazari told reporters, Trend reports.

He stated that the port in question exported over 296,000 tons of oil and non-oil products during the reporting period.

Nazari explained that the Anzali port completely loaded and unloaded 1.1 million tons of products.

The official noted that the Anzali port handled the import of more than 773,000 tons of goods, including grain, crude cooking oil, wood, tea, and other items, from the Caspian countries during the specified period.

Nazari also stated that the port loaded and unloaded 2,850 tons of TEU containers over the course of the seven months.

He noted that the port received 395 vessel calls during the reporting period.

To note, Iran's Anzali port, with its annual capacity of 6.15 million tons, is considered one of the country's major ports on the Caspian Sea.

The current capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the capacity of ports by 500 million tons.
