BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14.​ Azerbaijan's total value of agricultural production in 2024 at current prices reached 12.9 billion manat ($7.5 billion), with crop production accounting for 6.16 billion manat ($3.6 billion) and livestock products contributing 6.83 billion manat ($4 billion).

Data obtained by Trend from the annual report on the country’s economic activities shows that Azerbaijan's agricultural production increased by 1.5 percent compared to the same period last year, with crop production rising by 1.1 percent and livestock products growing by 1.7 percent. In 2024, the contribution of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 5.7 percent.

In the reporting year, the patch of land set aside for sowing and perennial crops has seen a jump of 6.5 percent year on year, now covering a whopping 1.52 million hectares. This growth was largely fueled by a 7.7 percent uptick in the land dedicated to cereals and cereal legumes, amounting to a whopping 1,021,000 hectares.

Notably, the area under wheat grew by 0.6 percent to 546,300 hectares, while the area for potatoes declined by 5.5 percent to 46,700 hectares. The area under barley saw a significant increase of 17.9 percent, reaching 420,600 hectares, and the area for corn rose by 2.1 percent to 29,200 hectares. Sunflower cultivation for grain surged by 38.4 percent, covering 13,700 hectares, while the area for melons increased by 12.8 percent to 19,400 hectares. The area allocated for cotton also grew by 9.7 percent, reaching 102,800 hectares.

Throughout the analyzed timeframe, output experienced an uptick across multiple domains, including barley, corn, cotton, sunflower, sugar beet, tobacco, vegetables, melons, fruits, and berries.
