ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 8. Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, met with Timothy Kabba, the Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation of Sierra Leone, Trend reports.
In the course of the meeting, Nurtleu highlighted that representatives from Sierra Leone would have the opportunity to explore Kazakhstan's leading IT and financial institutions, which hold significant potential as gateways for connecting West Africa with Kazakhstan.
Nurtleu also emphasized that Sierra Leone is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Africa, with diplomatic relations between Astana and Freetown established on November 20, 2014.
"Despite the geographical distance, we are committed to fostering cooperation based on mutual trust and equality," Nurtleu remarked.
The minister also pointed out the substantial potential for productive collaboration between the two countries in areas such as trade, transportation and logistics, healthcare, agriculture, and other important sectors.
“I am confident that your visit will lay a strong foundation for enhancing the ties between our countries and peoples,” stated the Kazakh minister.
Both sides stressed the importance of increasing collaboration
between their foreign ministries to identify promising areas for
future cooperation.
In September 2024, Kazakhstan and Sierra Leone agreed to implement
a visa-free regime. In March of this year, Kazakhstan signed an
agreement with Sierra Leone to waive visa requirements for holders
of diplomatic and service passports. As a result, citizens of both
countries will be able to enter, transit, and stay in each other’s
territories without a visa for up to 30 days within a 180-day
period from the date of first entry.
