ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 18. Kazakhstan will allocate $1.484 billion (781.2 billion tenge) this year to repair 8,800 km of roads, including 2,100 km for reconstruction, 459.6 km for major repairs, and 6,300 km for medium-level repairs, said Darkhan Imanashev, Director of JSC "NC KazAvtoZhol," during a government meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, Trend reports.
“This year, seven new projects will be launched for the construction and reconstruction of 1,000 km of roads: Karaganda – Zhezkazgan, Aktobe – Ulgaysyn, Atyrau – Dossor, and bypasses around the cities of Kyzylorda, Rudny, Saryagash, and Petropavlovsk,” the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan stated.
Imanashev also reported on measures to ensure effective and safe transit through border areas. This includes the phased reconstruction of automobile border checkpoints (ABCs). Of the 52 ABCs currently operating along Kazakhstan’s borders, 36 are planned for reconstruction by 2030.
"With investments of $1.225 billion (644 billion tenge) in 2025 projects and over $5.7 billion (3 trillion tenge) in new projects, we expect to generate an economic return of up to $12.16 billion (6.4 trillion tenge) by 2048," he noted.
He also added that, as of April 1, 2025, Kazakhstan has 20 toll road sections with a total length of 3,900 km. In 2025, another 26 toll sections covering 5,500 km are planned to be introduced. Toll revenue in 2024 amounted to $92 million (48.4 billion tenge).
Next year, construction is expected to be completed on the Kyzylzhar – Moyinty railway line, with investments totaling $1.37 billion (720.4 billion tenge), as well as modernization of the Altynkol – Zhetygen section ($204 million or 107.8 billion tenge). The work is proceeding according to schedule.
At the end of the meeting, the deputy prime minister tasked national companies with completing all infrastructure projects within the designated timeframes. Government agencies were instructed to maintain constant oversight and provide full support in resolving bureaucratic hurdles that hinder timely project implementation.
