ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 16. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has published a license for the provision of oilfield services under the projects of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium and Tengizchevroil, Trend reports via the U.S. Treasury's general license.
The U.S. Treasury Department has removed the "Caspian Pipeline Consortium" (CPC) and the oil-producing company "Tengizchevroil," which develops the Tengiz field in Kazakhstan, from the sanctions list that prohibits transactions related to the provision of oilfield services.
"All transactions prohibited by the determination of January 10, 2025 ('Oil Services Ban') related to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium or Tengizchevroil projects are hereby authorized," states the official document from the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Earlier, in January 2025, U.S. authorities introduced a package of anti-Russian sanctions, which included a ban on providing services to Tengizchevroil (5 percent of which belongs to the Russian company Lukoil) and CPC, which transports Kazakhstani oil through Russia.
Tengizchevroil is the operator of the world's deepest super-giant oil field, Tengiz, located in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan. The length of the Caspian Pipeline is 1,500 km, and more than two-thirds of all Kazakhstani oil exported is transported via the CPC.
