TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 4. From January
through May of this year, the volume of market services in the
Republic of Uzbekistan hit a whopping 373.5 trillion soms (around
$29.5 billion), marking a rise of 13.3 percent compared to the same
stretch last year (which saw a 13.0 percent increase in the same
timeframe), Trend
reports via the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.
Within the sectoral landscape, the apex of expansion was observed
in the domains of communication and informatization, achieving a
remarkable 123.5 percent, followed closely by financial services at
119.1 percent and the transport sector at 114.0 percent.
Suboptimal growth trajectories were noted within the sectors of
accommodation and food services (107.7 percent), educational
services (108.9 percent), and trade (110.2 percent). Regionally,
the apex of growth metrics was exemplified by the urban center of
Tashkent, registering an impressive 117.0 percent, alongside the
Navoi and Andijan territories, each reflecting a robust 113.1
percent increase.
Furthermore, within the service industry during the period spanning
January to May of the current fiscal year, a total of 820,500
individuals were engaged in income-generating employment
opportunities. Among these figures, 140,200 individuals were
engaged in stable employment arrangements (which encompasses 2,700
positions formalized through the regularization of informal labor),
while 680,300 participants were actively engaged in entrepreneurial
ventures.
As a result of the initiation of approximately 22,400 novel trade
and service establishments across the regions, there was a
generation of around 43,600 new employment opportunities.
Specifically, a total of 9,800 establishments were initiated within
the retail sector, 2,500 within the realm of household services,
1.4 thousand across the domains of education and healthcare, 1,100
in the public catering sphere, and 314 within the tourism industry,
alongside over 7.2 thousand entities in various other service
sectors.
