The governmental ownership of Iranian economic firms will be lowered to 20 percent in the next five years, said the Iran Privatization Organization director.
ISNA news agency quoted Gholam-Reza Heidari Kord Zanganeh as saying that before the Iranian calendar year 1384 (ended March 2005) the government owned over 60 percent of the country's economy, but through the measures taken by the previous administration in the past four years, this ownership has been reduced to 30 percent.
By 2015, the private sector will own 55 percent, and the cooperatives sector will own the remaining 25 percent.
