Iran commissions solar power plant in Zanjan Province

Seven-megawatt solar power plant has been commissioned in Iran's Zanjan Province on occasion of Iran Government Week (August 24-30), Iranian Energy Ministry stated, Trend reports referring to the ministry's website.

According to the ministry, the station with 6.5 million euros’ worth of investments from the private sector was built in four months on an area of ​​14 hectares in Abhar County of Zanjan Province. The power plant has been connected to Iran’s electricity grid.

The plant will reduce the consumption of 3.95 million cubic meters of fossil fuels by generating more than 11 gigawatt hours of energy annually. At the same time, it will save three million liters of water per year and prevent the release of 9,598 tons of greenhouse gases.

Some 600 people were employed for the construction of the station, and 10 people have been employed at the station after its commissioning.
