Soltan Hadiyev, an export on jurisprudence of the bill on Improvement of Customs System in Azerbaijan, told Trend that work over new Customs Code of Azerbaijan will be concluded and submitted to the parliament in October 2006, Trend reports.
The new Code will be more probably included in the agenda of winter session of the parliament, the expert underlined.
The foreign experts guess that the new Code will considerably affect on Azerbaijan's integration into Europe, ensure transparency and simplify the customs procedures, efficiency of attracting foreign investments in the country.
So far, under the annual project financed by the European Commission and implemented by UNDP, the specialists and representatives of Customs bodies visited Estonia and Sweden to study experience of these countries in the customs sphere. The key objective of the project with the budget of в'¬900,000, which was set up in January, is to render assistance to the State Customs Committee (SCC) in the improvement of the legislative base in the customs sphere, its relevance to world standards, particularly, the Customs Code of the European Union, improvement and implementation of strategy on the development of information technologies for the SCC.
The first Customs Code was adopted in Azerbaijan 1997.
