Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 18 / Trend E.Ismayilov /
The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) intends to process 6.4 million tons of oil in 2011 compared to 6.18 million tons this year, SOCAR Vice President David Mammadov said.
The processing volume amounted to about six million tons in 2009.
Azerbaijan's annual gasoline consumption increased by an average of 6.1 percent due to an increase in the number of vehicles, he said.
Currently, the oil refining depth in the company's refineries exceeds 93 percent. The oil refining depth is 99 percent at the Azerneftyag refinery and 92.4 percent - the Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev. The figure at the Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev will be increased to 92.5 percent by late 2010.
The relatively low oil refining depth at the plant is linked with the fact that the refinery produces oil, which is used by many state agencies.
Mammadov said the company's refinery will launch a production of diesel fuel of Euro-3 standard in 2011 and Euro-3 standard gasoline in 2012.
Currently, fuel produced by SOCAR completely complies with Euro-2 standard.
