Kazakhstan can leave Central Asia United Energy System in few days, Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company's (KEGOC) spokesman Marat Muhamedsaliev told KyrTAG on Wednesday.
"Technically, we can abandon the Unified Energy System of Central Asia in two-three days, but this requires a political decision of the Cabinet of Ministers," Muhamedsaliev said.
On Dec. 21 Uzbekistan for tree times caused problems in energy supply of Kazakhstan. Fluctuations of 400 - 700 MW of power took place on the border with Kazakhstan, which resulted in short-term restriction in the power of Kazakhstani consumers.
The Kazakh Unified Energy System has recorded non-contractual power flows from Uzbekistan since September, KEGOC reported earlier. Fluctuations on the border with Kazakhstan up to 500 MW of power takeoff or output were observed in the period
Non-observance of the energy regimes negatively affected and destabilized the unified energy system of Central Asia.
Given these problems, KEGOC earlier expressed intentions to abandon the Central Asia United Energy System.
