Iran provides update on gas production rates

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 26. Iran currently produces 1.07 billion cubic meters of rich gas daily from various gas fields across the country, an official of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Hormoz Ghalavand, said, Trend reports.

Ghalavand also said that the South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar), which is a joint gas field of Iran with Qatar, produces more than 700 million cubic meters of gas.

He added that the gas fields under the Iran’s Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) and the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) produce 305 million and 65 million cubic meters of gas respectively.

The official further said that 16 million cubic meters of gas is drawn from the Shourijeh D underground gas storage facility and 8.3 million cubic meters of gas from the Sarajeh underground gas storage facility.

Iran stands second in the world for gas reserves, with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas. The county's gas production capacity is currently more than 1 billion cubic meters per day.

On average, Iran currently produces about 259 billion cubic meters of gas annually and more than 800 million cubic meters daily.
