BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. Azerbaijan is among Top 3 natural gas suppliers to Türkiye, according to data published by the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), Trend reports.
In August 2024, Azerbaijan's natural gas exports to Türkiye decreased by 20.84 percent compared to the same period last year, dropping from 937.70 million cubic meters in August 2023 to 742.24 million cubic meters. However, this solidified Azerbaijan's position as the second largest exporter of natural gas to Türkiye during the reporting period.
Russia ranked first, exporting more than 2.274 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which marked an increase of 0.19 percent compared to August 2023. Iran came in third, exporting 491.34 million cubic meters of natural gas, as compared to 73.89 million cubic meters in the same period in 2023.
Overall, Türkiye's gas imports increased by 5.74 percent, from almost 3.681 billion cubic meters in August 2023 to approximately 3.892 billion cubic meters in August 2024. Imports of pipeline gas rose by 6.90 percent to almost 3.508 billion cubic meters, while LNG (liquefied natural gas) imports saw a decline of around 3.78 percent, dropping to 384.73 million cubic meters.
