ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 28. Kazakhstan and Rwanda are interested in developing the "green" energy sector and the efficient use of natural resources, said the President of Kazakhstan at a briefing for media representatives during a meeting with the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, Trend reports.
According to the president of Kazakhstan, in this regard, the two countries intend to implement joint projects.
“These agreements will contribute to increasing trade volumes as well as give new impetus to investment cooperation between the two countries,” Tokayev noted.
The president of Kazakhstan also expressed gratitude to the guest for his official visit to Kazakhstan, noting that the negotiations held are of great importance to their countries.
According to him, the international influence of the African continent is growing every year, and Kazakhstan is striving to establish close relations with countries in this region.
“Today, close contacts have been established between the international financial centers of Astana and Kigali. We agreed to further strengthen cooperation in global financial markets. Special attention was paid to issues of combating climate change and environmental protection. Rwanda has extensive experience in climate protection, which contributes significantly to global projects. In this context, we noted the relevance of exchanging experiences and discussed ways to combine efforts to address environmental problems within the framework of international conventions and agreements,” Tokayev said.
Moreover, another topic of the negotiations was cooperation in the fields of culture, education, and science. In particular, the presidents agreed on developing academic ties, student exchanges, and conducting joint scientific research.
Highly appreciating the long-standing experience and authority of the President of Rwanda in world politics, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reported that he exchanged views with him on key geopolitical issues.
Earlier, within the framework of the expanded meeting of the two presidents, a number of agreements and documents were signed in the fields of finance, trade, etc.
President of Rwanda Paul Kagame is on an official visit to Kazakhstan. He will also participate in the Astana International Forum (AIF 2025), which will be held on May 29–30 in Astana.
