New water reservoirs to appear in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan plans to construct 22 reservoirs in seven regions until 2021.

Chairman of the Water Resources Committee of the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry Islam Abishev said that the new reservoirs will have a total additional water accumulation in the volume of 1.9 billion cubic meters.

The total cost of the reservoirs will be 57.2 billion tenge and will be constructed in Almaty, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda, Mangistau and South Kazakhstan oblasts, Abishev said at a press conference in Astana.

He further added that the Agriculture Ministry submitted proposals for reconstruction of 26 emergency reservoirs for a total of more than 44 million tenge.

"The Agriculture Ministry submitted investment proposals for reconstruction of 26 emergency reservoirs for a total of over 44, 757 million tenge, 36,606 million tenge of which - for reconstruction of emergency water reservoirs, 8,151million tenge - for engineering and technical strengthening and introduction of local warning systems of hydraulic structures at 77 sites," said Abishev.
