ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 12. Kazakhstan plans to complete the full-scale deployment of the 5G network in the country ahead of schedule, said President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his speech at the Digital Bridge forum, Trend reports.
"The full rollout of the 5G network will provide a powerful driver for innovation. This process is already underway in Kazakhstan," he said.
According to him, previously, the goal was set to cover all regional centers with new generation cellular communications by 2027.
"However, with technology rapidly advancing, we need to speed up. The government needs to complete this work ahead of schedule - before the end of 2025. Of course, the shift in deadlines should in no way affect the quality of the services provided," he said.
As Tokayev noted, it is important to provide internet access to residents of the most remote areas, using the capabilities of low-orbit satellite systems to achieve this goal.
"The government should thoroughly consider this. If necessary, make changes to legislation," he added.
In telecommunications, 5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019, and is the successor to 4G technology that provides connectivity to most current mobile phones.
Like its predecessors, 5G networks are cellular networks, in which the service area is divided into small geographical areas called cells. All 5G wireless devices in a cell are connected to the Internet and the telephone network by radio waves through a base station and antennae in the cell.
The new networks have higher download speeds, with a peak speed of 10 gigabits per second (Gbit/s) when there is only one user in the network.
5G has higher bandwidth to deliver faster speeds than 4G and can connect more devices, improving the quality of Internet services in crowded areas.
