ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 18. Kazakhstan intends to solve the shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by 2030 by using new production capacities at Kashagan and Karachaganak fields, the vice minister of energy of Kazakhstan, Alibek Zhamauov, said during the plenary session of the parliament, Trend reports.
“It is planned to launch production of liquefied gas at Kashagan and Karachaganak fields. Volumes from the fields are expected to be 800,000 and 600,000-700,000 tons per year, respectively. The deficit problem should be solved by 2030,” the vice minister said.
Kazakhstan's current production of liquefied natural gas for domestic consumption is about 130,000 tons per month, but it is not enough to cover demand. The monthly deficit is estimated at 35,000 tons, despite production growth.
