BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 17. The volume of the agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan from January through June 2023 increased 28.2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of the country, the value of the agricultural output in Kyrgyzstan, including food items, beverages, and tobacco products, grew by 7.56 percent - from 24.3 billion soms ($246.5 million) to 31.1 billion soms ($353.9 million).
The leaders in terms of agricultural production have become the Chuy region, with a production value of 16.7 billion soms ($190 million), and the city of Bishkek, which produced goods worth 10.3 billion soms ($177.2 million).
On the other hand, the Naryn region recorded the lowest agricultural production during the first six months of 2023, with a total value of 297.4 million soms ($3.3 million) .
Meanwhile, the total area of land sown with agricultural crops in Kyrgyzstan reached over 1.2 million hectares in 2023, which is a 0.3-percent increase compared to 2022.
Among the regions, the largest share of sown areas is located in the Chuy region, accounting for 33.9 percent, followed by Issyk-Kul with 14.9 percent, Osh with 14.7 percent, Jalal-Abad with 13 percent, and Naryn with 9.1 percent.
