BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 9. Kyrgyzstan exported 15,796 tons of potatoes in January–February 2025, a 61.4 percent increase compared to 9,785 tons during the same period in 2024.
According to data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the total value of potato exports amounted to $1.921 million, which is 70.7 percent higher than the $1.126 million recorded in January–February 2024.
Uzbekistan remained the primary destination, importing 14,190 tons of Kyrgyz potatoes—up by 45.3 percent year-on-year. Kazakhstan followed with 1,331 tons, a significant rise from just 20 tons in the same period last year. Azerbaijan also became a new market, importing 267 tons, while no exports were recorded to the country during the first two months of 2024.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $2.07 billion in the first two months of 2025, marking a 13.2 percent decline compared to the same period in 2024. Exports totaled $314.4 million (down 4.7 percent), while imports dropped by 14.6 percent to $1.756 billion.
