Tajik Foreign Minister Khamrokhon Zarifi will discuss complex issues of bilateral cooperation with the Turkmen leadership during his two-day working visit to Ashgabat, which kicks off on Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry told CA-News.
According to the source, Zarifi is scheduled to meet with Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov during the visit. As expected, the two sides will discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation in the economy, and exchange views on regional issues. Discussions regarding Turkmen oil product supplies to Tajikistan have not been ruled out from the upcoming talks.
At present, the Tajik oil product market depends on imports from Russia. Russia has already increased export duties for exporting these goods several times this year, resulting in a significant increase in prices for all kinds of goods and services in Tajikistan, and spurring the growth of inflation.
As expected, Zarifi will also hold talks with the Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, deputies to the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Baymyrat Hojamukhammadov (responsible for the oil and gas sector), Deryageldy Orazov (energy and construction), Nazarguly Shaguliyev (transport and communication complex), and Orazmurad Gurbannazarov (textile industry and trade).
