DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 14. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) aims to substantially increase its investment volume in Tajikistan, surpassing the current relatively low level, Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB's Board said, Trend reports.
He made the remark during a press conference held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
"The indicators currently outlined in the country strategy for Tajikistan until 2026 will most likely be significantly surpassed," he said.
Podguzov outlined that the bank has earmarked projects worth several hundred million US dollars in Tajikistan, including the construction of the Rogun hydropower plant.
"We have ambitious goals to expand our portfolio, and we hope to demonstrate a solid performance in 2024," he added.
During the Almaty press conference, it was also announced that the bank is considering allocating an additional sum of around $100 million for the modernization of Dushanbe Airport.
Podguzov mentioned the bank's plan to finance no fewer than 30 projects in member countries in 2024, totaling around $2.3 billion.
The EDB is an international financial institution operating in the Eurasian region, consisting of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
