The stone paper plant has been launched in pilot mode in the Fergana region of Uzbekistan on the eve of the President's visit to the region, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

According to the information, a stone paper project was presented on May 6, 2019. The result of the implementation of this project was the Fergana stone paper enterprise in the city of Fergana.

It is reported that the production of 9,000 tons of stone paper per year has been established here based on a unique technology from China. It was also noted that the enterprise employs 60 people.

“Papermaking is one of the ancient directions of our handicraft. At one time, Samarkand paper was famous throughout the world. This enterprise is the restoration of historical traditions at the industrial level,” the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said during his visit to the Fergana region.

It was noted that stone paper has several advantages - a lot of water is used to make cellulose paper, which makes it unsuitable for further use due to harmful substances in the composition, while water is not used during the production of paper from stone.

In addition, such paper has higher strength and durability. Also, it is resistant to moisture and dirt. Therefore, stone paper is convenient to use in printing, packaging, and wallpaper production. At the same time, it is in high demand in the foreign market.
