TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 8. The number of installed POS terminals in Uzbekistan amounted to 424,610 as of July 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU), this figure has decreased by 0.84 percent year-on-year (428,205 payment terminals as of July 2023).
Uzbekistan’s Xalq Bank, by installing 45,964 POS terminals, has become the leader. Uzbekistan's National Bank ranked second with 39,690 payment terminals, followed by Ipotekabank (39,328 POS terminals) during this period.
The CBU notes that the smallest number of POS terminals was registered in Uzbekistan’s TBC Bank – 27 and Bank Saderat Tashkent - 27.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan is actively promoting contactless payment systems by popularizing NFC technology in sales and service points throughout the country and by taking measures to provide QR codes in accordance with the requirements of trade and service points throughout the country.
