Iran's Mercantile Exchange notes decline in its weekly sales

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 20. The sales value at the Iranian Mercantile Exchange decreased by 30 percent during the last Iranian week (July 13 through July 17) compared to the previous week (July 6 through July 10), Trend reports via Energy Exchange.

The value of sales at the Iranian Mercantile Exchange amounted to 42.7 trillion rials (about $109 million) during the last Iranian week (July 13 through July 17). However, during the previous Iranian week (July 6 through July 10), the value of sales on Iran's Mercantile Exchange amounted to 61.2 trillion rials (about $156 million).

According to the information, 127,000 tons of hydrocarbon products worth 33.8 trillion rials (about $86.5 million) were sold at Iran's Mercantile Exchange last week. The sales of the products accounted for 90.2 percent of the total sales at the Energy Exchange.

Last week, hydrocarbon products worth 16.8 trillion rials (about $43 million) were sold on the domestic section of the energy exchange, and 17 trillion rials (about $43.5 million) were sold on the international section. The exchange mainly traded diesel, liquefied natural gas, naphtha, and other commodities.

Furthermore, 3.66 billion kilowatts of electricity worth 5.52 trillion rials (about $14.1 million) were traded on the Mercantile Exchange last week.

Also, the value of other markets on the Mercantile Exchange amounted to 3.34 trillion rials (about $8.55 million).

To note, the sale of hydrocarbon products on Iran's Mercantile Exchange is of great importance. Iran is seeking to meet the needs of local companies with hydrocarbon products and to increase exports via the Energy Exchange.
